We are pleased to announce that we will be offering garden plots to the community for anyone that wants to garden but does not have a place to do it. Martin Clark, owner of Martin’s Hardware has graciously donated the use of his big empty lot behind Martin’s Hardware located on Liberty St. and West Pleasant St. Several Master Gardeners- Jane Moulton, Becky Adams, Erin Buckwalter and Mattie MacGregor have volunteered and will available certain days of the week for folks that need help.

The raised garden plots will be designed 4’ x 30’ and cost $25 each for the entire summer.

Art from the Start

Young children ages 0-5yrs old accompanied by their parent or caregiver are invited to explore many different kinds of art materials in a social setting to have creative fun.

Fee: $5 per class $40 for the session

Instructor: Helen Hartwell, mother of a creative toddler and participant in the VT Early Education Teacher Program., has five years experience teaching preschool. Danielle Norris, a creative kid-loving teenager, will be joining as co-instructor during the summer.

"Movies in The Park"

July 16-Aug. 20 THURSDAYS, starting at dusk.

We are delighted to show film classics on our theatre sized screen for a drive-in experience without the driving!

The popcorn machine will be popping.

Free to the public and suitable for all ages. Bring a blanket. The film schedule will be posted in the Addison Independent Community Calendar and on our website www.bristolrec.org.

Mount Abe Youth Soccer 2009

(MAYS)

July 7-July 30, Tues. & Thurs.

Class# 2454 6:30 – 7:15pm, Pre-school and Kindergarten

Class# 2455 6:30 – 7:45pm, Grades 1 – 6

Fee: $15

Bristol Recreation is happy to announce its partnership with the MAYS program! All registrations will now be handled via

our department.

A soccer program for girls and boys, pre-school through sixth (6) grade, scheduled for 8 sessions, from July 6-31, on Tues. & Thurs. evenings. This is a skills oriented program that emphasizes fun and the spirit of soccer. Please note that due to

the large number of registrants each year, teams will be decided randomly. Cut Off Date: June 1st. Registration by this date also insures that your child will receive a MAYS t-shirt and any other promotional items.

Are you interested in sponsoring a team? If so, please contact Wendy Livingston at 453-7262. The fee is $75 and a scholarship for your player.

Hunter Safety

Ages 8 and up Class # 2386

Aug. 17-21

Location to be announced.

Class graduates will leave the hunter education courses with a thorough understanding of how to get a lifetime enjoyment from Vermont's magnificent natural resources. Topics covered

include:

  * Introduction to Hunter Education

(History, Purpose and sponsors)

  * Firearms and Hunting Safety

  * Hunter Responsibility

  * Personal Preparedness

  * Wildlife Conservation

  * Hunting Opportunities

  * Specialty Hunting

Practical instruction includes shooting on the last day.

Fee: Free!

Instructor: Barb Prime, teaching Hunter's Safety for over 30 years.

Mt. Abe Youth Soccer

Is looking for volunteer coaches for ages years - 6th grade.

This is a four week program that serves kids in the five town area.
